Inventory of Monitoring Programs

One of the goals of the Virginia Water Monitoring Council (VWMC) is to promote and facilitate the coordination of water monitoring programs in Virginia.  The VWMC has developed inventories of both surface and ground water monitoring programs in Virginia.  The inventories provide the geographic extent of the monitoring program, type of waterbody monitored, parameters monitored by the program, how the data are documented and used, plus contact information for the program.

      Note to GIS users: As part of ongoing efforts to upgrade the online GIS application, Virginia's DEQ has updated the geographic location map. Use of this new map is encouraged, as the previous version of the map is to be discontinued sometime in early 2010.

Online Data

    The VWMC provides links to online sources of water data at the regional, statewide, and national levels.  These data can be used to help assess the conditions of Virginia’s waters.
