The Virginia Water Resources Research Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Ashleigh Kirker! Dr. Kirker joins the Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation department as an Assistant Professor, with a 10% appointment at the VWRRC.
Dr. Kirker’s research focuses on connections between headwater catchments, urban landscapes, and sediment legacies. Specifically, she seeks to understand the impacts of upstream land-use change on downstream water quality, by utilizing process-based models which are grounded in field observations. Dr. Kirker has a Ph.D. in Geoscience from Temple University and a B.S. in Geology from the College of Charleston. She is a member of the American Geophysical Union and the American Water Resources Association.
As part of VWRRC, Dr. Kirker will work on water curricula, mentor and advise aspiring water students, and foster meaningful relationships with stakeholders. We look forward to her contributions at the VWRRC!
