We’re thrilled to share that Andie Flota, who served as our VWRRC-USGS Summer Water Intern in 2024, has been selected as a 2025 Society for Freshwater Science (SFS) Instars Fellow! This prestigious fellowship recognizes promising undergraduate students interested in freshwater science and provides mentorship opportunities to support their professional development.
The Instars Fellowship will allow Andie to continue growing in the field of freshwater science while connecting with leading researchers and fellow early-career scientists. At this year’s SFS meeting, Andie will present results from her research measuring changes in pond nutrient retention and downstream water quality during and after a retention pond sediment dredging project in Dr. Erin Hotchkiss’s lab.
Please join us in congratulating Andie on this wonderful achievement!
