Stephen Schoenholtz, director of the Virginia Water Resources Research Center, was elected this week to serve as the president of the National Institutes for Water Resources (NIWR).
NIWR is the organization of state water resources research institutes or centers authorized by section 104 of the Water Resources Research Act of 1964. NIWR cooperates with the US Geological Survey to support, coordinate and facilitate research through the Annual Base Grants, National Competitive Grants, Coordination Grants, and in operating the NIWR-USGS Student Internship Program.
Schoenholtz will serve as president-elect from October 2015 to September 2016 and president the following year.
