The Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for this year’s Water Resources Research Act 104g grant program has been posted. For this funding cycle, the program seeks AI/ML-driven, scalable methods that integrate utility, operational, environmental, and public data to observe, estimate, validate, and forecast the water use of data centers and other industries that rely on public supply.

 This program is administered in cooperation between the USGS and the Water Resources Research Institutes and Centers. The Virginia Water Resources Research Center (VWRRC) at Virginia Tech coordinates applications from universities or colleges in Virginia. Applications from Virginia institutions will need to be submitted to the VWRRC by Oct 29, 2026 5:00pm.  If you plan to submit, please contact us (mclaugd@vt.edu) by October 15.
