Discovering Solutions To Virginia's Water Challenges

The Virginia Water Resources Research Center conducts, promotes, and disseminates research on problems relating to water resources throughout the Commonwealth and beyond.

Our research initiatives address critical water challenges facing Virginia, including water quality and quantity issues, sustainable management of water resources, and environmental protection. Through partnerships with Virginia Tech's faculty, state and federal agencies, and private industry, we advance scientific knowledge and provide practical solutions to complex water resource challenges.

Our research programs contribute to the development of new technologies and management strategies that benefit researchers, educators, policymakers, and the public.

Current Projects

The Water Center maintains an active research portfolio addressing water quality, watershed management, groundwater sustainability, and restoration ecology. Our interdisciplinary projects involve faculty from across Virginia Tech and partner organizations.

Grant Opportunities

The Water Center administers federal funding and supports research through competitive grant programs. We provide funding opportunities for faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers working on water resource challenges.

Virginia Water Faculty

Our faculty researchers specialize in hydrology, water chemistry, engineering, ecology, and environmental science. These interdisciplinary experts collaborate through the Water Center to address complex water resource problems.
