Jane Walker is a research associate with the Water Center, where she helps with funded research projects, manages the Center’s job board, and assists with the Center’s communications. She is a member of the Water Center’s Academic Research Group to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and serves on the Steering Committee for the Virginia Water Monitoring Council.

My water research interests are varied, with past projects focusing on potentially harmful algal blooms within a freshwater lake, stormwater best management practices, nutrient criteria development, total maximum daily loads for freshwater streams with aquatic life impairments, small drinking water systems, diets of marine mammals, mercury bioaccumulation by floodplain vegetation, etc. More general career interests include sustainability, habitat protection and restoration, endangered species, and environmental education.
